Dopo Torino, Budapest e Berlino, “The Streets You Choose” continua il suo viaggio fra le colline di Camo, un paesino in provincia di Cuneo cuore delle Langhe, ospite del Museo a Cielo Aperto di Camo.
PERCHÉ CAMO?
Camo ci ha conquistati. Non ne conoscevamo l’esistenza prima di incontrare Claudio Lorenzoni, curatore della manifestazione artistico-culturale che anima questa piccola cittadina ormai da tre anni. Arrivarci richiede un po’ di pazienza, ma una volta abbandonata la pianura con le sue arterie stradali, i negozi e le case, si inizia ad intuire quanta sia la bellezza racchiusa fra quegli estesi vigneti che conducono al Paese delle Stelle, Camo appunto.
Qui si respira un’aria differente, in (e con) tutti i sensi. La sua ricchezza più grande è la sua stupefacente semplicità. Difficile trovarvi la calca da turismo enogastronomico, sempre più in voga e chissà quanto realmente sostenibile.
Qui si fa quasi fatica a smettere di riempire i polmoni di un’aria che sa di buono e di riempire gli occhi di sfumature che vanno dall’oro al verde, per poi passare al colore della terra. Neanche la musica si ferma mai qui a Camo. I grilli e le cicale friniscono instancabilmente affinchè i loro ospiti non si sentano mai soli.
Ecco perchè Camo fa parte di una delle strade che abbiamo scelto Stefano ed io.
LA TERRA È IDENTITA’
The Streets You Choose è una raccolta di 18 scatti black & white catturati da Stefano Di Marco in diversi Paesi (fra cui Italia, Polonia e Finlandia).
Differenti identità, un concetto multidimensionale e fluido, trovano espressione attraverso i volti, le forme e i luoghi raccontati nelle fotografie di Stefano.Da questa selezione scaturiscono due messaggi di fondo che abbiamo voluto diffondere e promuovere durante la mostra itinerante della scorsa estate (Torino, Budapest e Berlino) e in quella che verrà inaugurata al Museo a Cielo Aperto di Camo il prossimo 6 agosto.
Crediamo fortemente che le differenze identitarie, che contraddistinguono ognuno di noi, ci rendano esseri unici e irripetibili. Ed è proprio l’umanità che queste trasmettono a renderci così tanto simili e vicini, più di quanto si possa immaginare.
I soggetti racchiusi negli scatti rappresentano diverse espressioni identitarie colte nella vita quotidiana:
l’Ordinario diventa Straordinario con il suo carico di valori, di significati o “semplicemente” di emozioni..sta a noi coglierli.
La terra, nella sua accezione geografica e materiale, rispecchia perfettamente lo spirito del nostro progetto. Culla di saperi, tradizioni, culture ma anche risorsa naturale ed economica di un popolo, la terra permea la vita dei suoi abitanti e dei suoi coltivatori contribuendo a definirne i profili identitari. In questo processo, dinamico e a doppio senso, la terra viene condizionata, nel bene e nel male, dall’opera delle donne e degli uomini.
La terra di Camo, con i suoi profumi e aromi, con la sua storia e la sua identità accoglierà noi e The Streets You Choose, dal 6 al 31 agosto, nella Pinacoteca della città.

ART, LANGHE LAND AND IDENTITY MEET EACH OTHER IN CAMO
After Turin, Budapest and Berlin, "The Streets You Choose" continues its journey through the hills of Camo, a small village in the province of Cuneo in the middle of Langhe territory, as guest at the Museo a Cielo Aperto di Camo.
WHY CAMO?
Camo won us over . We did not know the existence before meeting Claudio Lorenzoni, curator of the artistic and cultural event that animates this small village for three years now. Get there takes a little patience, but once you leave the plain with all of its roads, shops and houses, you start to realize how great is the beauty enclosed in those extensive vineyards that lead you to the Village of the Stars , precisely Camo.
Here the atmosphere is different and you can feel it with all your senses. Camo greatest treasure is its amazing simplicity. Although Camo valuable vineyards, it is hard to find mass wine and food tourism, a kind of tourism become more and more popular but who knows how much sustainable it is.
In Camo you can hardly stop filling your lungs with an air that smells good and fill your eyes of shades ranging from gold to green, and then move on to the color of the earth.Even the music never stop in Camo. The crickets and cicadas chirp tirelessly so that their guests never feel alone .
That’s why Camo is part of the streets Stefano and I chose.
LAND IS IDENTITY
The Streets you Choose is a collection of 18 black and white pictures shot by Stefano Di Marco in several countries (including Italy, Poland and Finland).
Different identities, a multidimensional and fluid concept, find expression through the faces, shapes and places described in Stefano photographs.
This photography selection embraces two main messages we wanted to spread and promote from the beginning, since the grand opening of our exhibition occurred last summer (in Turin, Budapest and Berlin) and in the next one at Museo A Cielo Aperto di Camo, August 6th.
We strongly believe the identity differences, distinguishing each other, make us unique and rare. And the humanity these differences express keep us closer than we may suppose.
The subjects included in these photographs represent different identity expressions captured in everyday life:
the Ordinary become Extra-Ordinary enriched by values, meanings or “simply” emotions…it is up to us to recognize them.
The land and the earth meet exactly our project philosophy. Thinking about both the land -as an important place where knowledge, traditions, cultures are preserved- and the ground –as a natural and economical resource for the population- it is clear how much they affect their inhabitants lives defining their identities too.
In this dynamic and mutual process, women and men shape the land through their (good or bad) actions.
Camo’s land, with all its smells and scents, with its cultural and historical identity will welcome us and The Streets You Choose from August 6th to 31th , at the Art Gallery of the city.
